A circa 1780-1820's bucket from Philadelphia, Y.F.S. may have stood "Youth Fire Society". Children were often involved with fire-fighting efforts, assisting the adults by fetching the empty buckets back to the well, passing buckets in the brigade, and returning the empty buckets to their rightful owners after the fire was extinguished.
